Third Annual Edison VeganFest Set for June 15th

Edison, NJ – April 27, 2019 – On Saturday, June 15th, 2019, the community will gather for a day of fun, food and festivities to celebrate a cruelty-free lifestyle, a cleaner environment and a healthier planet. The goal of the event is to educate the public about the benefits of adopting plant-based choices and to promote vegan-friendly businesses and organizations resources in the Tri-State area and beyond.

Festival-goers will have the opportunity to enjoy plant-based culinary delights, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, children’s activities and giveaways from vendors such as Harmless Harvest, Gone Pie Vegan Bakery, Hanna’s Meatballs and Brooklyn Granola, while enjoying music from DJ Candace V and live performances from acoustical duos Buntopia and Neville’s Quarter. Over 80 vendors will bring a variety of animal-friendly wellness and beauty products, apparel, health services, educational resources and more. An up-to-date vendor list can be found on the event Facebook page or our website, www.edisonveganfest.com.

This year’s speaker lineup will feature meat-free athlete and bodybuilder Korin Sutton, neurologist and product testing expert Dr. Aysha Akhtar, and animal violence prevention advocate Dr. Casey Taft. A live panel discussion will explore the question of what it means to live a vegan lifestyle on the road; panelists include vegan fashion experts Andy Tabar of Compassion Company and podcaster James Lucas of Grape Cat, as well as travel blogger and author Kristin Lajeunesse, known by the hashtag #WillTravelForVeganFood. Vegan LGBTQ activist Honey LaBronx will serve as emcee.

The plant-based lifestyle has swelled in popularity worldwide for the past decade, and the trend is expected to continue. Several news outlets including Forbes and The Economist have hailed 2019 as “The Year of the Vegan.” The Millennial generation is leading the charge toward eco-friendly, healthy and compassionate choices. Vegan offerings are popping up on mainstream restaurant menus as public demand continues to grow.

The Edison Veganfest will take place, rain or shine, from 12 pm – 6 pm (VIP admission begins at 11 am) at The New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, which is located at 97 Sunfield Avenue.
