SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The New Jersey Primary Elections will be held on Tuesday, July 7, when South Brunswick residents will make their choices for the state's 12th Congressional District.

Vote-by-mail will be expanded for this Primary, and voters who are registered in their parties have already received their ballots. (If you have not received a ballot, contact the Middlesex County Board of Elections.) If you did not receive or return your vote by mail ballot, you may vote by provisional ballot at the polls.

The Democrat Primary for the 12th Congressional District will be between incumbent Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman and challenger Lisa McCormick. Mark Razzoli is the Republican challenger in the 12th District. A Democrat until switching parties just last year, Razzoli is unopposed on the GOP Primary ballot.

Watson Coleman was elected in 2018 to her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. The first African-American woman to represent New Jersey in Congress, she is the daughter of former state legislator John S. Watson.

McCormick is a small business owner who owns and publishes New Jersey’s oldest weekly newspaper. She owns CMD Media, which publishes NJTODAY.NET, which was formed in 2010 with the merging of The News Record, the Patriot and the Atom Tabloid & Citizen-Gazette in Union County. It was designated as New Jersey’s oldest weekly newspaper, in continuous circulation since 1822.
