EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The number of COVID-19 cases in New Jersey has exceeded 100,000, with COVID-19 related deaths in Middlesex County increasing to 381 by April 24. The death toll in the United States has topped 50,000.
The death count in New Jersey is now 5,617, up from 5,368 on Thursday, according to the Middlesex County Department of Health.
There are 9,642 cases in Middlesex County, according to statistics provided by the MCDOH, an increase of 553 overnight, with 12 deaths since yesterday.
The MCDOH has also confirmed the deaths of 18 residents in South Brunswick; 13 in East Brunswick; and 2 each in Spotswood, Milltown, and Helmetta.
As of today, there are 409 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in East Brunswick; 312 in South Brunswick; 58 in Spotswood; 50 in Milltown; and 24 in Helmetta.
Statewide, there is a total of 102,196 cases, an increase of 2,207 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 5,617, an increase of 249 overnight, according to the State Department of Health. Statewide there have been 100,159 negative test results.
There are 884,004 cases in the United States, with 50,373 deaths; worldwide, there are 2,780,094 cases and 194,664 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
