SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — There were 50 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed this weekend in Middlesex County, according to the Middlesex County Department of Health.

South Brunswick had one new confirmed coronavirus case on Sunday. There were no additional cases reported in East Brunswick, Spotswood, Helmetta or Milltown.

More than half of the new confirmed cases were in four communities: Edison (8), Old Bridge (7), Piscataway (6) and New Brunswick (5).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths since Saturday. The MCDOH reports a total of 19,667 cases in Middlesex County since the start of the pandemic, and 1,219 deaths attributed to COVID-19. The number of deaths in the county rose by three over the last week.

East Brunswick 761 total cases (12 in last week), 62 deaths

South Brunswick 564 total cases (8 in last week), 32 deaths

Spotswood 126 total cases (4 in last week), 4 deaths

Milltown 104 total cases (3 in last week), 4 deaths

Helmetta 49 total cases (2 in last week), 4 deaths
