NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Approximately 1.5 million women are raped or physically abused nationwide each year, according to the Center for Disease Control data on domestic violence.
Both men and women annually become victims of the violence or abuse inflicted by family members or intimate partners such as a spouse, former spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend, ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend, or date, according to New Brunswick Domestic Violence Awareness Coalition
On Oct. 27, the coalition will host a rally march against domestic violence in the community.
The march coincides with the marking of Domestic Violence Awareness Month across the country.
This year the rally will begin at 11 a.m. at the Rutgers Institute of Health, 112 Patterson St.
Coalition members are volunteers who are organized and dedicated to assisting city families impacted by the violence.
For this year's march, the theme is “The Many Faces of Domestic Violence.”
