SOMERVILLE, NJ - A late afternoon thunder storm rumbled through central New Jersey Saturday, but Mother Nature turned off the rain spigots in time for the kick-off of the Summer Stage live music series on Division Street sponsored by the Downtown Somerville Alliance.

Mail Order Bride, a four-piece cover band from Freehold featuring two guitarists, bass and drums, opened with Don Henley's "Boys of Summer," released in 1984 on the "Building the Perfect Beast" album, followed by covers of Tom Petty, ZZ Top and other classics from popular bands of the '70s, '80s and '90s.

In a change from previous years, the stage was set up near Main Street, with the band easily seen and the music echoing down Main Street, which was crowded with customers enjoying dining al fresco at dozens of popular downtown restaurants.
