SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ -- The South Brunswick boys basketball team opened the Central Jersey, Group 4 state tournament with an 82-61 victory over Jackson Memorial in the first round Tuesday night.

Senior forward Devin Strickland scored 23 points for the Vikings (22-5), who got their running game in gear early and had a 25-17 lead after one quarter.

Justin Carbone scored 16 points and Ty Murchison connected for 13 points for South Brunswick, which broke the game open with a 27-13 third quarter to open a 63-43 lead. Yathin Vemula and Akhil Edekar each finished with nine points and Andrew Tesser scored eight points in the win.
