NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ -- The South Brunswick boys basketball team broke away from a tie game in the fourth quarter and went on to a 55-48 victory over North Brunswick Friday in the first round of the Brunswick Holiday Classic.

Justin Carbone scored 21 points for the Vikings (2-1), who outscored the Raiders, 18-11, in the fourth quarter.

Devin Strickland finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and five blocks and Tyler Murchison totaled eight points, five rebounds and three assists for South Brunswick, which trailed, 27-25, at halftime. Akhil Edekar scored nine points in the win.

The Vikings will play New Brunswick at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at New Brunswick High School.
