SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ -- Two members of the South Brunswick baseball team were named to the Greater Middlesex Conference First Team for 2019, and five Vikings players were selected to the GMC All-Red Division Team as selected by league coached following the season.
Jacob Ciccone and Mike Reyes both represent South Brunswick on the GMC First Team. Ciccone, a senior left-hander who has committed to Lafayette College, was 8-2 on the mound with a 1.29 earned-run average and a 69-to-16 strikeout-walk ratio in 49 innings pitched. Ciccone completed his career with 18 victories at South Brunswick.
Reyes, a senior outfielder/pitcher, batted .386 with nine extra-base hits and 15 runs batted in for South Brunswick in 2019. He was also 4-1 on the mound with a 2.66 ERA. Reyes will be attending Stevens Institute of Technology.
In addition to Ciccone and Reyes, three more South Brunswick players have been named to the Red Division team: Nick Delacruz, Matt Lauri and Justin Cross. Delacruz, the team's shortstop, batted .364 with 24 runs scored and 15 RBI. Lauri, an outfielder, finished with a .392 batting average, 23 runs and 13 RBI. Cross, a right-handed pitcher, was 5-3 with a 2.18 ERA.
South Brunswick tied for the GMC Red Division title, and was the runner-up in the conference tournament, losing to Old Bridge in the championship game.
