SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Police and Seton Hall University officials are asking students for information to assist in the capture of the suspects in the attack on two university students on Tuesday evening.
Tracy Gottlieb, vice president of student services, sent an email to the university community late Wednesday afternoon that stated: “Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Brian McGuire at 973-378-7772, ext. 7788. All calls will be kept confidential.”
According to a report in the student newspaper, The Setonian, police are looking for three men in connection with the incident at Grove Terrace apartments, 185 South Orange Ave. During a confrontation, one male student was shot in the arm and another was pistol whipped. Neither student was hospitalized.
Gottlieb’s email outlined safety measures and transportation services, noting, “We urge all students and members of our community to avail themselves of these transportation services and advisement, whenever needed.”
Police have said this was not a random attack.
The South Orange Police Department’s detective bureau and a crime unit of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are conducting the investigation.
