SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Rotary Club of South Orange partnered with Cintas and PNC Bank to host its first Community Shredding Event on Saturday, April 21 at the South Orange Fire Department.

Janice Teetsell, president of Rotary Club of South Orange, modeled this event after those of other Rotary Clubs and said it is part of the club's community service mission. Teetsell, who is also a lawyer, brought 18 boxes of legal documents from her office to be shredded.

“We are all afraid of identity theft,” Teetsell, said. “Doing this is safe and way cheaper than having a company come into your office to shred confidential documents.”

Steve Sklar, a local lawyer, brought three large boxes of legal documents. “Lawyers have client information that is very private,” Sklar, said. “Lawyers are required to shred these documents.”

Regina Shaddad, manager at PNC, said that PNC hold events to educate about identity theft. “Our goal is to protect (against) identity theft,” Shaddad said.
