SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Borough Mayor’s Wellness Committee in conjunction with the South Plainfield High School student council and advisor Tony Encinas , hosted our 12th annual blood drive on February 4, 2020, at the South Plainfield High School auditorium, sponsored by the New Jersey /New York Blood Centers.  The blood drive was open to all residents and donors who were required to show ID and be escorted to the high school auditorium .  16-year-old students could donate blood with the permission of their parent /guardian along with student ID and 17-years old and older did not need permission but needed school ID.  The following “Gifts of Life” were donated:

72 registered donors
22 deferrals
42 whole blood
8 Alyx machines (units)

The following student volunteers were: Shikha Patel, Janille Cruz, Kourtney Scipio, Alexis Robinson, Bobby Rivera, Obinna Ibeku and Zoe Lambert.  Thank you to South Plainfield High School principal Bob Diehl and Mayor Matthew Anesh.  "Thank you all for the gift of life" said  Debbie Boyle, Chairwoman of the South Plainfield Borough Mayor’s Wellness Committee and Tony Encinas South Plainfield High School teacher and student council advisor.

The next South Plainfield Mayor’s Wellness event will take place with our Wellness health fair and our 5K race in conjunction with South Plainfield Pink Socs on June 6 , more information to follow.
