SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – On Friday, February 19, 2016 Cub Scout Packs 207 and 324 held the 1st annual Town Wide Pinewood Derby at Franklin School.

The car kits were delivered to the scouts in December. They consisted of a block of pine wood, 4 nails for the axles and 4 wheels. The Scouts had to design and build their cars to meet the official Pinewood Derby rules.

The fastest 10 cars from each Pack were averaged out to determine the fastest Cub Scout Pack in South Plainfield. The 2016 Town Wide cup went to Pack 207 by just 0.38 MPH.

The Scouts who had the fastest cars in their Den will compete Saturday March 12, 2016 at the Raritan Valley District Pinewood Derby race which will take place at Herbert Hoover Middle School in Edison NJ. This year’s fastest 3 cars at the district race will Compete June 25, 2016 for the World Finals Pinewood Derby race which will take place at Times Square in New York City.
