The South Plainfield Music Department would like to congratulate the following students who participated in the annual Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) Elementary Honors Orchestra: Kennedy School – Allison Buchanan, Neha Bommireddy and Alexandra Sacco; Riley School - Sofia Hassan, Fiona Lay, Abigayle Gonzalez, Julianna Donaruma and Adam Zaremba; Grant School – James Buchanan , Mikael Evans, Rajan Balkarran, Sarai Adams, David Amador, Justin Sogbo, Sandra Morris, Sara McNelly, Siya Jaitly, Rebecca Hollo and Piervittorio Ciccariello.
On Saturday April 9th over 300 students from the Central Jersey region gathered at East Brunswick High. Student participation was so high this year the students were split into three separate orchestras (Red, White and Blue). Students rehearsed starting at 9am and performed a concert at 2:30pm. The Red Orchestra performed “Miniature Symphony” and “Simple Square Dance” under the direction of Dr. Dorothy Sobieski. The White Orchestra performed “Ode to Joy”, “Medieval Kings” and “Clog Dance” under the direction of Mrs. Lisa Gaudet. The Blue Orchestra performed “Linus and Lucy”, “Humoresque” and “Mozart Symphony No. 40” under the direction of Mrs. Sarah LiVecchi of South Plainfield Middle school and Kennedy School. Mr. Tobie Baldwin of Riley School and Mrs. Diane Lee of Grant School were also there to help the students rehearse. Teachers from all over the region donated their time to help pull off a wonderful day. The students enjoyed this great opportunity and performed magnificently!
