Autumn Rumble Pro-Wrestling Fundraiser November 19 to Benefit North Plainfield PBA

The North Plainfield PBA's Autumn Rumble pro-wrestling fundraiser will take place at the high school on Nov. 19.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The North Plainfield Policemen's Benevolent Association (PBA) Local #85 will hold an Autumn Rumble fundraiser on Nov. 19 with proceeds benefiting the borough’s police union. The pro-wrestling event will take place at North Plainfield High School and feature a lineup of male and female wrestlers, a midget match, and one of North Plainfield’s own men in the blue.

The North Plainfield PBA’s Autumn Rumble will feature professional wrestlers with Northeast Wrestling, including Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, Booker T, Robbie E, and Swooggle as well as female wrestlers Mandy Leon and more. There will also be a midget match and North Plainfield’s very own Detective Eric ‘Icebox’ Fowler will also step into the ring.

“The union is extremely grateful that he has stepped up to participate in the event. He is well known within the North Plainfield School District as he has been a School Resource Officer for many years,” said David Canica, a member of the North Plainfield PBA and a patrolman with the borough police department for close to two decades. “We hope the kids will come out to see him.”

Each year, the North Plainfield PBA assists individuals and families and awards scholarships as well as sponsors various public events, including National Night Out and Project Graduation. Funds needed are collected through union dues as well as donations from the sale of decals or fundraising campaigns.

“This is the first time we have organized an event on this scale and the response, so far, has been fantastic,” said Canica, adding,

“We never say no and are always here to help organizations, individuals and charities in need, but we need to raise the money so that we can continue to do so.”

Tickets for the North Plainfield PBA’s Autumn Rumble on Saturday, Nov. 19 are currently on sale and start at $15 per person with ringside seats available for $30 each.

“Money raised at this event will go back to the community and be used to help us continue helping the community down the road. We enjoy being able to help others and events like this will help us continue to do so,” Canica said.

Major sponsors of the North Planinfled PBA Autumn Rumble include Global Auto Mall, VIP Honda, and International Bar along with support from Somerset Service Center, Fabricland, B&B Towing, Nelson Construction, Harry Bros. Flooring, Astro Rents, Cyzner Properties, North Plainfield Nissan, North Plainfield Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA), Unity Bank, Berkeley College, Target, Luigi's Pizza, Herbs Liquors, JC Concrete & Curb Co., the Monroe Fire Department, and both the Montgomery and South Plainfield PBAs.

“We appreciate all of our sponsors and all those who plan to come out for this event,” added Canica.

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
