SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Despite the all-day rain, the first edition of the Mohamad Sanu Football Camp took place Saturday at South Brunswick High School.

The camp, which was hampered by the poor weather conditions, raised upwards of $3,500, which will be divided amongst some local charities including the South Brunswick PAL Football Program, organizers said.

Some 45 campers donning “Sanu’s Crew” T-shirts attended the camp, run by former SBHS alumnus and current Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mohamad Sanu.

The participants were presented with a half-day program that included pre-competition stretching and exercising, football drills and some seven on seven competition drills.

Guest coaches, in addition to the Cincinnati star receiver, included former Rutgers and NFL standouts Mark Harrison and Tim Wright.

Wright was also sporting his recent Super Bowl ring from his play with the New England Patriots.

The program ended with discussions by the coaches and Sanu urging the participants to continue participating in organized football and academics.

“Always follow your dreams, and listen to your parents and coaches for their guidance in life,” Sanu said to the campers.

After a post-camp pizza party, the campers who withstood the inclement weather, each received an autographed picture from Sanu and his fellow coaches.

To show the campers where their dreams can take them, Sanu introduced Mohamad Jabbie, a senior on next year’s South Brunswick football squad, who has committed to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

He also mentioned that Phillip Campbell, the featured running back on the same Vikings team, had also just committed to Coach Flood’s Scarlet Knights squad.

Neither high school star was able to participate due to the late running showcase at Rutgers that day.
