EDISON, NJ -- Bishop Ahr High School's athletic director Michael Wolfthal has apologized to his colleagues at the Greater Middlesex Conference, to whom he sent a now infamous "GO F... YOURSELVES" email that quickly went viral.

Wolfthal was upset by the result of a NJSIAA vote on Monday that will result in separating New Jersey’s public and non-public high schools in football and wrestling. It means that schools such as Bishop Ahr and St. Joseph High School in Metuchen will likely now play a schedule against football powerhouses, such as Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco, in a non-private conference.

The change will end the traditional rivalries between the Catholic high schools and neighboring public schools. In 2015, Bishop Ahr played football against Colonia, Woodbridge, Point Pleasant, New Brunswick, Iselin (Kennedy), South Plainfield, Carteret, Perth Amboy, Pingry, and St. Joseph (Metuchen). Meanwhile, St. Joe's played South Plainfield. Red Bank Catholic. Kennedy Memorial (Iselin), Perth Amboy, Carteret, Colonia, Woodbridge, New Brunswick, and Bishop Ahr.
