SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The candidates for both the Board of Education and Borough Council will debate back-to-back on Monday, October 30 at the South Plainfield Senior Center, 90 Maple Ave.
The evening will start off with “Meet the Board of Education Candidates” from 6 to 7:30 p.m., hosted by TAPinto South Plainfield, followed immediately by the “Borough Council Candidates Debate,” co-sponsored by South Plainfield Business Association and the South Plainfield Observer, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Seven Board of Education candidates are vying for three, three-year terms. The candidates are incumbents John Farinella, Chere Glover and Sharon Miller, along with Keith Both, Jen Curtis, Pio Pennisi and Stephanie Wolak. The moderator will be Patricia Feeney.
Candidates vying for two, three-year seats on the Borough Council are Republican incumbents Derryck White and Christine Faustini and Democratic newcomers Cassie Capparelli and Robert Sayers. The moderator will be Suzanne Lepore.
Audience members may submit their questions for the candidates that night. Candidates will not see the questions in advance. Questions can be directed to all candidates or an individual candidate.
The entire community is invited and encouraged to attend both events. This is your opportunity to meet both the BOE and Borough Council candidates in one evening and have your questions answered.
Food and refreshments will be served starting at 6 pm. Both events will be videotaped. TAPinto South Plainfield and The Observer will post the videos on their websites for those community members unable to attend.
