Together they forge a strong friendship and find victory in their struggles against the many dangers of the sea to fulfill Moana's dreams of discovery and to help her family. The movie begins at 6:30pm.  The movie that is shown on Monday night will also be shown again on the subsequent Wednesday at 12:30 pm for those that can’t make the Monday night showing or don’t like to drive at night.  Stop by the library and pick up a schedule of the movies being shown.

South Plainfield Public Library welcomes Michael Conklin who will present a program on Duke Ellington. Beyond Category:  The Life and Music of Duke Ellington will be held on Saturday April 15 at 1pm.  Edward Kennedy Ellington was born on April 22, 1899 and was the most prolific composer of the twentieth century in terms of both number of compositions and variety of forms. His development was one of the most spectacular in the history of music, underscored by more than fifty years of sustained achievement as an artist and entertainer. He is considered by many to be America’s greatest composer, bandleader, and recording artist. This program will trace Ellington’s musical life from his beginnings in 1920′s Harlem and the Jazz Age to his death in 1974. Audio and video footage, in addition to musical examples, will illustrate the magnitude of Ellington’s contributions to the American aesthetic.  Mr. Conklin is an active jazz scholar, cultural historian, and writer who specializes in jazz history and American music, music of the antebellum South, the Harlem Renaissance, and issues of race and class.  This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required.  To sign up for the program, call us at 908-754-7885.

What was intended to be a day of fun in the sun suddenly takes a drastic and dangerous turn when Jenny decides to go for a swim.  "Henchmen for Hire," by Andrew Froening, Two talkative henchmen are hired to stand guard over a clandestine meeting; when the job runs later than expected, they are forced to find ways to entertain themselves. "Healing Heroes" by Chris Orangeo centers around our main character, Dr. Henry Connors, a therapist that specializes in treating Super Heroes and Villains.  A Q & A session with the filmmakers will follow the screenings.  Jes Vasquez grew up in South Plainfield, New Jersey, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Writing from Ramapo College of New Jersey, and moved to Philadelphia 3 years ago where her filmmaking career is underway!

While at the meeting the creatures, which were being housed and contained in a magical briefcase, manage to escape thanks to the interference of a No-Maj named Jacob. This situation leaves tensions running high as Newt attempts to right this newly-created wrong in a world already burdened by conflict between those for and against magic.  The movie is rated PG-13.
