Come join us at the library for Monday Night Movies! On June 19 at 6:30 PM, we will be showing a new release starring Will Smith, Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, and Helen Mirren. Howard Inlet (Smith) is depressed after the death of his young daughter. Howard’s business partners at his advertising company (Norton, Winslet) are concerned for his well-being and hatch a plan to save their ailing business. Howard writes letters to Love (Knightley), Time, and Death (Mirren), only to actually meet them in person. If you cannot make it to our Monday night showing, it will also be shown on Wednesday, June 21 at 12:30 PM. The movie is rated PG-13.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and grandpas out there this Sunday! While you are out and about on June 18, stop by the library to join us for our last Super Science Sunday until the fall. This Bird Brain Edition will be a lot of fun for your children ages 9 and up, as Ms. Jackie has super cool activities planned! First, children will be making nests for the egg drop experiment; they will see if they can build a good enough nest that will protect the egg from smashing to bits. Next, children will also be shown how to make seed balls; these seed balls can be used to create a flower garden for the birds. The program begins at 3 PM; it is registration only, but there are still some spots available! Call us at 908 754-7885 ext 4 or stop by to sign up!
Please keep in mind that all regular children’s programs will be canceled from June 19 to July 2. This allows the children’s staff to prepare for the much anticipated Summer Reading Program! Summer Reading Registration will begin Monday, June 26 (and will continue throughout the summer), and the first week of check-in is Monday, July 3. There are reading clubs for children of all ages, teens, and adults. What is better than reading and getting some awesome prizes for doing so? If you have any questions or would like more information regarding the Summer Reading Program, you can call us at 908 754-7885 ext 3 (for the adult program) or ext 4 (for the children’s and teen programs).
On Wednesday, June 28 at 6:30 PM, we will be having a Special Ramadan Storytime for children of all ages! Come learn about Ramadan and Eid with us at the South Plainfield Senior Center located at 90 Maple Avenue. No registration is required for this event.
