Did you miss a movie that you wanted to see in the theaters and don’t want to pay to rent it or for the DVD? Come to “Monday Night Movies” at the library.  It’s all the fun of a movie theater but none of the cost.  We are showing brand new releases every Monday night and we will be providing popcorn for all who attend. This week’s movie is based on Dave Eggers 2013 bestselling novel “The Circle” and stars Emma Watson, Tom Hanks and John Boyega. When Mae (Watson) is hired to work for the world's largest and most powerful tech & social media company, she sees it as an opportunity of a lifetime. As she rises through the ranks, she is encouraged by the company's founder, Eamon Bailey (Hanks), to engage in a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and ultimately her personal freedom. Her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes begin to affect the lives and future of her friends, family and that of humanity. This movie is rated PG-13. The movie that is shown on Monday night will also be shown again on the subsequent Wednesday at 12:30 pm for those that can’t make the Monday night showing or don’t like to drive at night.  Stop by the library and pick up a schedule of the movies being shown.

On Saturday, September 9 at 2pm, the South Plainfield Public Library welcomes back Dr. Michael Norris of Armchair Art Tours and former museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In a fluid presentation, we’ll examine a number of Impressionist works using the touchstone of water.  In its changing light and position, water was a natural focus for Impressionists and several of them had personal connections to the sea and water sports. This is the second in a series of 4 talks that will continue through November. The next talk is Saturday October 21 at 2pm and is entitled “Impressionism and Paris”.  The fourth talk is Saturday November 4 at 2pm and is entitled “Impressionism and America”. Come celebrate art and view amazing artwork with Dr. Norris and the South Plainfield Public Library!  Michael got his BA in classics from the University of California at San Diego and his MA in classics and Ph.D. in art history at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He spent twenty years at the Cloisters Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This program is presented free, but registration is required.  Please register by calling the South Plainfield Public Library at 908-754-7885 or stop by.

On Friday, September 15 at 3pm, the South Plainfield Public Library welcomes Dr. Paul Arfanis who will present a program entitled: “Tell Me About Implant Dentistry”.  No matter how diligently you may brush, floss, or visit your dentist, sometimes your teeth just can’t hold up with age. As you grow older, it is not unlikely for one or more teeth to fall out from sickness, injury, or decay. If you’re missing teeth, surgical implants may be the best solution to complete your smile again. In this program we plan to educate you as much as possible on the benefits of implant dentistry. We will tell you what implants are, what they're made of, the different types of implants, the benefits of implants, the possible risks of implants, the length of the process and how to tell if implants are the best choice for you. This program presented free, and no registration is required.  Dr. Arfanis has been in the dentistry business for over 30 years. He continuously attends seminars and classes to learn the most he can about dentistry.  This program is presented free and no registration is required.
