Regular children’s programming will be canceled the week of December 25.  In its place, we have a week of special fun-filled programming for children and tweens. Friday, December 22 at 2pm starts off the week of exciting activities with a classic holiday movie starring Macaulay Culkin which asks the age old question, what if you made your family disappear.  On Tuesday, December 26 at 10:30 AM, there will be Toddler Toy Time, which is an extension of the Puzzles & Games that is usually on Tuesdays; we will also have an afternoon screening of a newer children’s movie involving emojis at 3 PM and serving popcorn.  On Wednesday, December 27, join Gru, his daughters and the minions and in their newest adventure at 10:30 AM, along with a joint Minute to Win It/Life Size Board Games at 2:30 PM for ages 9 and up.  Thursday, December 28 has several activities: a morning movie with Lightning McQueen at 10:30 AM, Lego Builder’s Club at 3 PM, and at 6:30 PM we will be showing the newest LEGO movie with ninjas and making hot chocolate (for ages 9 and up).  On Friday, December 29 at 11 AM, we will be showing our final movie, which is based on a very popular book series by Dav Pilkey, that involves underpants. We will also have a Holiday Game Challenge for ages 9 and up at 3 PM.  Finally, on Saturday, December 30 from 11 AM – 12 PM, join us for a Countdown to “Noon” Year’s Eve.  This program is for ages 4 and up and we will be having different crafts (noisemakers and countdown clocks) as we countdown to the new year with those who are not usually able to stay up until midnight.

On Thursday, January 11 at 7pm, the South Plainfield Public Library welcomes Michael Crismali from Alterra Home Loans who will present a program entitled: “Achieve the Dream of Homeownership”.  His workshop will explore some of the key reasons why people hesitate to begin the process of purchasing a new home. He will discuss common misconceptions about obtaining a mortgage, and review some of the do’s and don’ts once you’ve decided to move forward. He will also cover a high level overview of the timeline of the home buying process from contract to closing. This program presented free, and registration is required.  To sign up, please call the library at 908-754-7885.
