Tax season is upon us, and many people have been calling and coming by to see if we have state and federal tax forms.  We have begun getting some of the Federal tax forms and booklets.  We put whatever we’ve received out in the wooden holder in our entryway.  The State of New Jersey does not send out tax forms.  If you filed last year, you should receive one in the mail.  If you need to call New Jersey for tax forms, you can call the Division’s Customer Service Center (609-292-6400) to request 2013 income tax forms and instructions.  We have a binder at the circulation desk that contains a NJ tax form, the instruction booklet, and Schedule A & B.  You can come in and make photocopies of the forms and instruction booklets, but the binder can’t be checked out.  We do not offer tax advice; we just provide forms and booklets.

Missed a new movie you wanted to see in the theaters and don’t want to pay for the DVD?  Come to “Monday Night Movies” at the library.  It’s all the fun of a movie theater but none of the cost.  We are showing brand new releases every Monday night at 6:30pm and will provide popcorn for all who attend.  The next movie is on February 24th and is a biopic of the late Princess Diana and stars Naomi Watts as Princess Diana.  This movie is presented free and no registration is required.

Do you love listening to music? Try out our new Freegal Music Service! Freegal gives you free access to millions of songs. After you download a song, it is yours to keep! Every song has a sample clip you can listen to before you download. This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs. Freegal also has its own mobile apps for iOS and Android devices.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! His real birthday is on Sunday March 2nd, but on Saturday March 1st at 10:30am, joins us for a joint celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America.  Come to the South Plainfield Senior Center where Miss Linda, Miss Mija and some special guests will be reading classic Dr. Seuss stories, singing songs and having a great time.  This special program is presented free and no registration is required.

We’re talking Baseball on Saturday March 15th at 2pm!  Dr. James P. Kane will present a one hour slide and lecture program highlighting the New York Yankees, in particular the 1961 Maris-Mantle home run chase of Babe Ruth. This will be a wonderful opportunity for all baseball loving residents to come and hear about the best team in baseball, and also meet with other fans!  This program is presented free and no registration is required.

If you can’t get to the library because you are pregnant, don’t drive, or are ill, and still would like to be able to get library materials, then sign up for our homebound delivery service.  You call us to sign up and tell us what you would like to read and we will match you with a volunteer.  We will pick out books for you, check them out and then deliver them to your door.  When you are done the volunteer will pick them up and bring them back to the library along with any requests for other books.   If you have any questions about this service or want to sign up, please give us a call at 908-754-7885.

We will be following our regular schedule for the children’s programs. The Storytime program for 2s & 3s is held Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30.  Storytime for ages 3 and up is held Tuesday mornings at 10:30, Wednesday night at 6:30, and Thursday afternoon at 1:15.  The Babytime program for ages up to 2 years is held Friday morning at 10:30. These programs do not require registration.  Please try to get to the Storytime programs on time because it can get very disruptive for Miss Linda and Miss Mija and the children if people come in the middle of the program.
