Hello everyone! Firstly, renovation continues in our Kids’ Room, however, we still have a limited collection of children’s books available to borrow. If there is something you need that we do not have available, please come see one of our reference librarians, who can request the book from another library, or direct you to a local library that has the book. We thank everyone for their patience during this time.
Our storytimes and crafts for children are continuing on their new schedule, and will be held in the Court Room at Borough Hall next door to the library. Storytimes and crafts for ages 3 and up will be Tuesday the 14th at 10:30 and Thursday the 16th at 1:15. Storytimes and crafts for 2 and 3 year olds will be Tuesday the 14th at 1:00 and Thursday the 16th at 10:30. Storytime for babies will be on Friday the 17th, with the first session running from 10:15-11:00 and the second from 11:15-12:00. Also, sign-up for the Summer Reading Program has begun, and children of all ages are invited to participate.
On Wednesday, July 15th at 6:30, we will be holding the event Mariah’s Amazing Puppets. The theme will be about litter and recycling. Recommended for Pre-K through 5th Grade. Pre-registration is not required, the program will be held at the South Plainfield Senior Center.
Our Monday Night Movie on July 13th will be about Maria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish refugee, who takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family. The movie stars Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds and is directed by Simon Curtis. The movie is rated PG-13 and will begin at 6:30 PM.
The Tuesday Book Club will meet July 14th at 4:00 to discuss I Shall Be Near to You by Erin Lindsay McCabe.
Lastly, we will be closed on Sundays for the summer, Sunday hours will resume in September.
