It might only be May, but we’re counting down the days to summer. Yes, it’s almost that time of year again, and our Summer Reading Program is on the way. We’re gearing up for a season of exciting programs, prizes and personalized book recommendations. Keep an eye out for more details in the weeks to come.
In the meantime, the library continues to be open in a limited capacity and all programming is currently happening online. You can visit our website to register for all upcoming events. Zoom links will be emailed out approximately 24 hours before each program. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the days ahead.
Join us on Tuesday, May 18 at 7:00 pm for our Home Buyers Seminar. Learn everything you need to know about the home buying process, including all the steps and costs along the way. This program is presented by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate M3 Realty
Realtor, Wajiha Kamal. On Wednesday, May 19 at 2:30 pm, we’ll be hosting our monthly Book Chat program, where we share and discuss our favorite new reads. This month’s chat will focus on suspense and thrillers.
Our weekly English Conversation Group meets Monday evening at 8:00 and Thursday afternoon at 4:00. Led by Ms. Eve, they’re open to new English speakers who want to practice their conversation skills.
For the kids we have an afternoon of fun and dancing on May 20 at 4:30 pm when Ms. Camille will be teaching us the latest moves in her Zumba class. So be prepared to DANCE! This program is geared for children ages 6 and up. The following week we’ll also be offering Zumbini, for even younger patrons and their caregivers. Zumbini combines music, movement and dance to create a fun and educational bonding experience. It’s geared for children ages 0 - 4 years old. Our next class happens Thursday, May 27 at 3:30 pm.
As usual we have our weekly scheduled storytimes happening as well. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 am we host a morning storytime program geared for children ages 2 - 4 years old. And on Thursday stick around after storytime to work on a craft project with Ms. Mija at 11:15 am. Bigger kids can get in on the fun at our evening storytimes every Wednesday at 6:30 pm. This program is aimed at children ages 4 and up.
If you’re looking for bilingual programs we offer a Chinese Storytime program every Monday at 10:30 am. No prior knowledge of Mandarin is required. Our Chinese Book Club meets every Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Some knowledge of Mandarin is required. This program is geared for children ages 6 and up. Every Monday at 6:30 pm, new Spanish Storytime videos are uploaded to our YouTube page. And for more foreign language fun, you can learn Spanish with Ms. Jailene and join her every Thursday at 6:30 pm for games, stories and songs en espanol.
