SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Ms. Chrissy Buteas and her family have renewed their Adopt-A-Spot agreement with the South Plainfield Clean Business Association. A crew of two people will continue to clean debris and litter from the Borough’s Open Space parcels on Belmont Avenue between Spruce Street and Jackson Avenue.
Ms. Buteas first approached the CBA about adopting a spot in 2010 while she was serving as Council liaison to the Environmental Commission and the Clean Communities Advisory Board. Ms. Buteas has strong feelings about litter. Not only has she participated regularly in the Borough’s volunteer public lands cleanups, but she has been known to tackle especially littered spots on her own throughout the year.
The Belmont Open Space is made up of a group of vacant, wooded parcels. The dense growth of shrubs and brambles catches any litter blowing along the roadway.
The CBA is looking for more adopters for open space locations. The vacant land between Garfield and Wooden Avenues and the Belmont Avenue stream crossing are available for adoption.
