New Haven, Conn.- Georgian Court University's Caitlin Hughes earned conference accolades today as the freshman raked her way to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week honors after leading the Lions to a 4-2 mark a week ago.

The sweet-swinging speedster batted .455 (10-for-22) over last week's six outings, which included three straight games with at least three hits. Hughes led the charge in last Thursday's conference sweep at Holy Family University, going a combined 6-for-7 with four runs scored and three stolen bases vs. the Tigers.

Saturday provided a stellar encore showing for the South Plainfield, N.J. native as she batted at a 4-for-7 clip, including a double, home run, two triples, three runs scored and four RBI in the Lions' two-win weekend vs. Post University.

Hughes is currently batting .381 (32-for-84) and leads the CACC with her six triples.

In other news, teammate Samantha Reilly received a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after batting a hearty .529 (10-for-17) last week, with seven runs and seven RBI over six total contests. The junior slugger tops the conference in the three triple crown categories with a .480 batting average, seven home runs and 29 RBI.
