SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Clinton Avenue Extension will be closed beginning Monday August 6th for rail crossing repairs. A Nixle Alert sent out by the Borough indicated the rail work would last all week long. Variable message board signs announcing the railroad closing have popped up in a number of locations throughout town.
Last year Councilman Bengivenga met with Conrail officials to discuss the condition of the three major railroad crossings in the Borough as well as a number of railroad issues.
The New Brunswick railroad crossing which had fallen in disrepair was fixed last October.
The South Clinton Avenue closure is expected to cause increased traffic on both New Brunswick Avenue, the Lakeview Avenue Bridge and Front Street.
