SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Cody J. Decker, Rowan University Class of 2018, was part of two television crews that were awarded The People’s Bronze Telly Award which honors the best in Digital and Streaming TV and Cable Non-Broadcast Productions.  The awards were presented to Decker as the producer of All Access with the Profs and as the on-air host of On The Couch over many other nominees across the country.

Decker has been an on-air broadcaster for All Access with the Profs during the past three years as a student at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.  This broadcast is taped weekly in the campus studio by the Rowan Television Network (RTN) covering all sports on campus including highlights and interviews with Rowan athletes.  On The Couch, RTN’s longest running studio show is a weekly talk show which airs in and out of the Rowan studio and spotlights members of the Rowan community. The award winning submission for All Access With The Profs was Season 25, Episode 4, Segment 1 and taped in the fall 2016 semester. The piece included a report on Rowan football’s game against Wesleyan College, live highlights of the Division 2 ice hockey team’s game versus the University of Delaware, and men’s swimming and diving recaps. Decker’s role included planning the show and its content, as well as anchoring the desk.

On The Couch’s crew earned the Telly for their “Love Your Melon” segment from spring 2017, Season 32, Episode 2. According to their website, “Love Your Melon” is a clothing brand whose mission is to provide a hat to every child facing a battle with cancer in America. Decker and his co-host interviewed three members of Rowan University’s “Love Your Melon” team. The interview consisted of graphics, pictures, and a story of how Rowan’s team is making an impact in the local community.

Beginning his studies at Rowan University in 2014 as a weekly radio broadcaster for Rowan Radio, 89.7 WGLS-FM, Cody also began his first live sportscasts for Rowan Television Network at their college hockey games.  After auditioning, he was also selected as an anchor for All Access with the Profs. As a sophomore at Rowan University, Cody became an active member of Rowan Television Network’s executive board. As a junior, his peers recognized his hard work and dedication and elected him to be the president of the network.  His duties continued to expand to include running the executive board, acting as the liaison to the College of Communication and Creative Arts and continuing to announce live broadcasts for the college football and ice hockey teams.  RTN’s on-air team was invited to broadcast the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Tournament over the past two years.  RTN, with Cody as a studio director, also completed their tenth annual live telethon on behalf of Go4TheGoal which raised over $7000 during a five-hour live broadcast. Beginning his senior year at Rowan University and continuing his second term of office as president of the network, Cody hopes to enjoy a banner year of live sports broadcasts and television news. Along with all of his broadcasting duties, Cody maintains a 3.4 scholastic GPA at Rowan University which has also earned him several academic honors.  The College of Communication and Creative Arts at Rowan University awarded him the Thomas Stathakes Scholarship Award for 2017.  He is also the recipient of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters Scholarship and an Adele DeLeeuw Senior Scholar, receiving scholarship recognition for four consecutive years. Cody resides with his parents, Charles and Marianne Decker in South Plainfield.
