SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Creative Kids Academy (CKA) is currently giving tours for the 2018-2019 school year with registration set to begin Monday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. Located on Clinton Avenue, the preschool has spots available in its full- and half-day Pre-K program as well as its 3- and 4-year-old and 2- and 3-year-old classes. Additionally, as in the past, summer camp and play camp sessions will be held.

“Here, the goal is to nurture students academically and socially while also serving as a second home for children,” said CKA owner and director Dan Rinaldi, adding, “We are focused on helping children develop the academic and the social skills they will need for years to come.”

CKA boasts an intimate atmosphere with small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios, providing all children with patient, dedicated, and individualized attention. During the academic year (September through June), CKA has approximately 17-20 staff members who are mostly teachers and teacher's aides and offers full- and half-day pre-kindergarten programs five, three or two days a week as well as early and extended care options.

CKA, said Rinaldi, is constantly strengthening and updating its curricula to meet the needs of all learners and to keep up with all the changes in education. The school’s curriculum is designed to prepare all students for letter and number recognition, discovery in science, math and many other areas of early education.

“We pride ourselves in staying up-to-date with what’s going on in the K-5 schools in our area so that our students are better prepared,” said Rinaldi, who, prior to purchasing the school worked as a fifth grade teacher in Edison for 14 years.

At CKA, mini libraries are set up throughout the buildings and, throughout the school year, there is a ‘Letter of the Week’ and other activities, such as reading or cooking, and ‘Word Walls’ to integrate and reinforce that week’s letter. Additionally, all educational services are balanced out with fun activities such as themed weeks, special ‘crazy hair’ or ‘crazy sock’ days, parties, a winter concert and trips as well as visits from the Fun Bus, the Travelin' Tumblers and Swift Farm Petting Zoos.

“We provide a well-balanced atmosphere in which necessary life skills can be attained,” said Rinaldi, adding, “At CKA, we are dedicated to constructing the foundation for education and socialization while providing an environment where kids can still be kids.”

CKA also offers options for those looking for a safe, educational, and fun place for their children to spend time when school is out. Summer camps are open to children ages 2 through 1st grade (as of September 2017); this year’s camp programs will run from the last week of June through Aug. 24 and, like during the school year, full- and half-day programs five, three, or two days a week will be offered.

CKA will also be offering two, 4-week play camps for children 2- to 6-years old. Play camps will be held Monday through Wednesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 25 to July 18 and again from July 23 to Aug. 15.

According to Rinaldi, kids who attend a formulized camp are much better prepared, socially and academically, come September. “During the summer months, many children regress due to lack of routine, structure and organized instruction/playtime, it is important to keep kids engaged and stimulated,” he said. “Programs of this nature, foster a safe environment for socialization and are a great way for children to stay active.”

Creative Kids Academy is located at 1615 Clinton Avenue in South Plainfield. To register for summer camp, play camp and/or the 2018-2019 school year, call 908-753-4477 or email Dan Rinaldi at
