SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The DeCosta Chiropractic Office in South Plainfield will hold a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the FISH Hospitality Program in Piscataway. Donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off at Dr. Anthony DeCosta’s office from Nov. 2 through Nov. 23.
Dr. Anthony DeCosta, a former resident with a practice in South Plainfield since 1986, has been running an annual Thanksgiving Food Drive out of his South Plainfield Avenue office for the past 10 years. Last year, said DeCosta, a minivan full of non-perishable items was delivered to FISH and he is hoping this year’s drive is as – if not more – successful.
“It’s a tough time and a lot of folks are hurting out there. Thanksgiving is a good time to try to give back as much as we can,” said DeCosta, adding, “We hope to fill tow minivans, at the least, this year.”
Non-perishable items, including but not limited to, canned fruit and vegetables, cereal, pasta, sauce, juices, shelf-stable milk, macaroni and cheese, and soup can be dropped off at DeCosta’s office, which is located at 129 South Plainfield Avenue, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m.
“As tough as times are right now, most of us, are pretty blessed whether we realize it or not and have food on our tables and roofs over our heads,” said DeCosta. “So many people are going through rough time and I want to try to help them out.”
