SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Democrat Committee has unanimously endorsed Bill Bethea for Borough Council. Bill will replace former council member Ed Kubala who was forced to withdraw due to health issues. Mr. Bethea will join Gary Vesce on the ballot this November.
Municipal Chair Bill Tankiewicz commented on the committee’s support:”First let me say Bill Bethea has big shoes to fill. Ed Kubala is one of the most distinguished members of our community. South Plainfield is a better place because of Ed’s dedication and hard work, not only on the borough council but with Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and a host of volunteer activities. Ed always works on one simple premise….do the right thing and people will respect you. On behalf of all of our residents Thank You Ed for your service to South Plainfield. Bill Bethea in many ways reminds me of Ed. He is the embodiment of positive energy and volunteerism. Bill works with kids every day at his baseball camp and is well known for his dedication to our baseball program. He has a whole list of recommendations to make our great recreation program even better. He will be a tremendous advocate for our children when he joins the borough council next January.”
Upon accepting the nomination of the Democratic Party Bill Bethea made the following comments “I am not a politician. I want to serve on the borough council so I can put into action my thoughts for making our great recreation program even better. Over the upcoming weeks I will set forth my specific recommendations. I welcome everybody’s input. I look forward to serving with Mayor Anesh and the Republicans on the council. When it comes to our children political affiliation means absolutely nothing. I am thrilled to be running with Gary Vesce. He has the background and experience to make things happen. We share the same vision to work with all sides to find common ground to make South Plainfield the best it can be.” Council Candidate Gary Vesce summed up the Democrats enthusiasm saying “Obviously Ed Kubala will be impossible to replace but I couldn’t be happier with my new running mate. I look forward to setting forth our platform of positive change over the coming months before Election Day.”
