SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Democratic Committee has unanimously endorsed Cassie Capparelli and Roberto Sayers for election to the Borough Council this November.   Democratic Chair Bill Tankiewicz said “We couldn’t be more excited.    Cassie and Roberto embody what makes South Plainfield such a special place to live.  No family has given more to our community than the Capparelli family.     Cassie’s grandfather Tulio was the face of our police department for decades.   He literally dedicated his life to making our borough the family friendly community it has become.   Every year the Cappy Award is given to those who perform outstanding service to others.   Cassie was taught those lessons at an early age by her grandfather and grandmother.   Her mother Dina and her late father Brian instilled in their children the importance of giving back.   Cassie Capparelli will be an outstanding addition to the Borough Council.   Roberto Sayers is the personification of the American dream.    Roberto was born in Panama and immigrated to the United States over 30 years ago after a successful career in Panama. He came here because he knew this is the land of opportunity.   Through hard work and dedication, he has risen to positions of leadership and respect in both his work and his personal life.    He had served on several borough boards and agencies,  such as the Business Advisory Committee and its subcommittee and Community Block Grant. He is an officer in the District 1 AFL-CIO,CWA Local 1033 union and serves as an usher at Saint Frances Cathedral for over 25 years.  Faith and family are the cornerstone of his life.   His intelligence and nonpartisan approach is exactly what we need on the borough council.”

In accepting the nomination for council Cassie Capparelli commented “I couldn’t be more honored.   I know my Dad and Grandpa are smiling down from heaven.    I promise to always do what’s best for our hard working families.” Roberto Sayers echoed his running mates comments saying “I chose to live in South Plainfield because it is so family oriented.   Everyone knows each other and tries to do what is best for their kids. Cassie and I look forward to talking with you and most importantly listening to you as we go forward towards November’s election. “
