SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – South Plainfield Police have identified the driver in a motor vehicle accident this past Saturday as Claire Lombardi, age 77, of Piscataway. According to South Plainfield Police, Lombardi was traveling on the New Market Avenue Extension when she drove through the fencing near Spicer Avenue.

The crash occurred at 10:21 am. Lombardi’s vehicle was the only vehicle involved in the accident as it drove off the roadway and into the chain link fence. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Lombardi was seriously injured in the accident and taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
