Edison, NJ – Edison Police stated that  two TD bank branches in Edison and a third one in Metuchen received bomb threats by phone from anonymous callers on Saturday within a span of 15 minutes,.  The calls took place between noon and 12:15 p.m. according to law enforcement.

Lt Robert Dudash said Edison firefighters and EMTs were on-scene as a precaution at both bank sites while police officers methodically swept each branch for unattended packages or suspicious items.

According to police, staff at each bank quickly evacuated its employees and customers, and notified their respective police departments.

Edison police officers responded to the TD Bank branch at 1906 Route 27 and to the TD branch at 2064 Oak Tree Road. Metuchen police officers responded to the branch located at 70 Middlesex Avenue.

“Thankfully, no cause for concern was found at either (bank) branch,” the lieutenant said.

Detectives from the Edison and Metuchen police departments are investigating the source of the anonymous threats.
