SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Elizabeth Boys’ Soccer team dominated on both offense and defense in defeating the South Plainfield Tigers 7-1. Antoine Gbamou and Matthew Almeida each scored twice to lead the Minutemen. South Plainfield’s only goal was by Anthony Mannino.

“They are a very good team said,” South Plainfield head coach Anthony Perfilio. “We have teams like Elizabeth on our schedule so later in the season we are better prepared for the State and County Tournaments.”

Elizabeth made the most of the day’s opportunities scoring three times in the opening half, and four times in the second half. The Minutemen seemed too capitalized on each scoring chance, while the Tigers failed to capitalize on the few chances that did materialize.

Diego Pellejero recorded the win for Elizabeth turning away eight shots on goal. Elizabeth’s record improves to 2-0 while South Plainfield falls to 3-2.
