SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Halls Warehouse located at 511 Kentile Road in South Plainfield. The fire was reported at approximately 7:15pm and was quickly elevated to a 3 alarm fire. In addition to the South Plainfield Fire Department, units from Plainfield, Piscataway, Metuchen, Colonia and Edison responded to assist with the fire and coverage.

According to authorities at the scene, the fire began on the roof in and around existing solar panels.

“Our fire units responded quickly, and knocked down the fire right away” said South Plainfield Fire Commissioner Robert Bengivenga.

Authorities have not reported any injuries. The building was reported to be a refrigerated warehouse. Fire fighters were dousing the remaining hotspots on the roof as the sun went down.

South Plainfield Mayor Matthew P. Anesh was at the scene and said “the fire department, and the units from the surrounding towns did an excellent job. Their quick action helped prevent what could have been a significant loss at the facility.”
