PISCATAWAY, NJ – Friends and family of a Piscataway man who was struck and killed by a freight train on Saturday has set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for his funeral.

Andy Cruz, 18, was attempting to cross the train tracks on New Market Road when he was hit by the train, they said on the GoFundMe page.

Cruz grew up in Plainfield and was a 2019 graduate of Plainfield High School. He aspired to be a professional baseball player, his family said.

At press time, the fundraising account was up to $3,135 in donations, with a goal of $10,000 in assistance.
