SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – On Thursday she made it official: SPHS senior Carlee Gonzalez will be playing soccer at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City this fall.
The senior forward will be joining a women’s soccer program headed by Coach Rob Bielan and Assistant Coach Jolian Bazi.
Gonzalez started playing soccer at five and played with the South Plainfield Soccer Club. While at the high school she played under Coach Danielle Chiera.
When asked about her time on the high-school team, Gonzalez said she tried to help everyone around her and tried to be a team player. “It made me a better player and person,” she said.
High School Principal Dr. James Pedersen called Gonzalez a “great student” and said he was proud of her accomplishments. Saying he knows she will continue to make her hometown proud, he said he’s sure she will let the world know how good South Plainfield is when she goes to St. Peter’s.
While at St. Peter’s Gonzalez plans to major in math.
