LIVINGSTON, NJ – Media outlets are reporting that Gov. Chris Christie will be making official his bid for the Presidency with an announcement at Livingston High School, his alma mater, on Tuesday.

Some Livingston residents and those who no longer reside in town have taken to Facebook sites like You Know Your From.... Livingston,N.J.  When............, and What’s Happening in Livingston to voice their varying opinions, which range from finding it exciting to have a fellow Lancer running for President, to those who find his choice of podium to be ironic after his previous battles with the teacher's union.

Livingston’s Interim Superintendent of Schools James O’Neil said, “It is fair to say that some of Governor Christie’s people have been in touch with administrative staff about a possible event at Livingston High School. We do not have confirmation of the event.  It is unfortunate that the school district has been placed in an awkward position with political implications. The school district does not endorse political figures and any event held on school grounds is simply out of deference to the office.”

On “You Know Your From.... Livingston, N.J.  When............,” Dave Hosseini said, “Regardless of opinion about him (mine is beyond negative by the way) I think it's a neat moment for the town."

“I want to tune in, hear what he has to say, and see our old school,” said Barbara Withey Ehnes. “Some people admire when one remembers their roots. Maybe he appreciates Livingston and fondly remembers his years there.”

Lynn Kafalas said, “I think it's a great idea that Christie will be at LHS to announce his run for President. Being a Democrat or Republican is not the issue. From what I read, he will be in the 'old' gym where all the games were held when 'we' were all there and it's very heartwarming that he chose to use this venue.”

In addition, it seems that the Governor will be supporting local businesses at his announcement by serving food from local venues.

“Rumor has it he ordered $10,000 of pastries from the RITZ, and 2,000 sandwiches from Tutto Fresco,” said Bruce Morton.

However, some Lancers, residents and former residents are not so happy with the idea of the Governor coming to town.

Joyce Slavin Gore said, “Considering what he has done to the public workers in this state...I find it ironic that he chose Livingston High School to announce his run for President. As an educator who contributed to the pension system he has failed to keep a promise he made that he would make payments to the pension fund. His arrogance as Governor has been noted by many...not just Democrats. Many of you have wonderful memories of that High School student, he is no longer that young man...he has failed ln so many areas: he made and has treated many citizens of this state with complete disregard. I find it offensive to speak at the high school considering how many people he has hurt with his policies.”

Gina Davidson Rossell said, “I just wrote a letter to the board of education asking how they could allow the high school to be used for a political announcement." She added, “… it's a bit ironic given his relationship with teachers and lies about pensions.”

The Governor’s brother Todd J Christie supported the Governor on Facebook by saying, “Ironic that someone would belittle what he has done on pensions. Consider the fact that he has put more into the public pension system than the four previous governors COMBINED!! Ironically, the NJEA endorsed all of them (Corzine twice). The Unions have tended to endorse senate and assembly democrats yet those same office holders voted yes on every one of those budgets that gave little to zero to your pensions. Facts are tough things sometimes. Talking points should be read and investigated not just repeated blindly.”

Jill Berger Ehrlich wrote on “What’s Happening in Livingston” for residents to “Please write a letter to the Superintendent, O'Neil requesting that Christie not be allowed to announce his presidency on Tuesday at LHS. He is not a supporter of public education even though his own mother worked for the district and collected a Pension! He is bad for NJ and bad for our country.

In addition, Jonathan Ben-Asher shared his sentiments and his letter to the members of the Board of Education, urging them to “tell Gov. Christie he can't do his announcement here.” He further stated, “Turning to politics and policy matters, of course, Gov. Christie has championed the most regressive policies concerning education you could imagine, as well as being an all-around demagogue."
