SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The 5th and 6th graders of the Grant School Drama Club will perform "Singin' In The Rain, Jr." on Wednesday, May 10th and Thursday, May 11th at 7:30 pm. The performance will take place at Grant School, located at 305 Cromwell Place in South Plainfield. Tickets are $5.00 and can be bought at the door.
Last year’s rendition of “The Lion King, Jr.” was a huge success with sold out audiences for both shows. This year, the drama club hopes to do the same. Over one hundred students, parents and staff will work together to put on a performance they have been preparing for all year long.
“The South Plainfield community has always been so supportive of the arts in our schools,” said Grant School Music and Choral Director Joan Stasio, who will direct the musical. “The children have worked tirelessly to prepare for the show. I am so proud of them. Their enormous dedication over the months is inspiring.”
The musical is based on the 1952 hit movie “Singin’ In The Rain,” starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds. “Singin’ In The Rain, Jr.” will feature the popular songs and dances of the movie many call the best musical ever made.
“We are urging everyone to come out for an incredible evening and to support the drama program!” added Stasio.
Performances of “Singin’ In The Rain, Jr.” are Wednesday May 10th and Thursday May 11th. Showtime is at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at the door. For more information, call Grant School at (908) 754-4620.
