Green Brook Burglary Suspect Nabbed in South Plainfield

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – Police nabbed a man, suspected of committing a burglary in Green Brook, on July 6th 2018 while performing a motor vehicle stop on West 8th. According to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, police arrested, Khiry Moody, age 28, of Sumner Avenue, Plainfield, New Jersey on suspicion of burglary.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on July 6, 2018, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Officers assisting the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force responded to a residence located on Lillian Street in Green Brook Township to investigate a home burglary.  Burglary Task Force officer’s observed defendant Moody leaving the area of the residence on Lillian Street in a motor vehicle.  At approximately 12:40 p.m. Task Force officer’s conducted a motor vehicle stop on defendant Moody’s vehicle in the area of West 8th Street, South Plainfield, New Jersey.  The investigation revealed that defendant Moody was found to have various items of jewelry belonging to the residents on Lillian Street on his person.  Defendant Moody was taken into custody and a Superior Court-issued search warrant was obtained for defendant Moody’s person and vehicle.  Burglary Task Force officers recovered a safe, a handgun, and rounds of ammunition that were taken from the residence as a result of the search. 

 Defendant Moody was charged with 2nd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd degree Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, 3rd degree Burglary, Degree, 3rd degree Theft, and 4th degree Criminal Mischief.  Defendant Moody was subsequently lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

 Prosecutor Robertson thanked the following agencies which comprised the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force:  members of the Bound Brook Police Department, Warren Township Police Department, North Plainfield Police Department, Bridgewater Township Police Department, Bernards Township Police Department, Readington Township Police Department, Edison Police Department, Middlesex Borough Police Department and South Plainfield Police Department.
