EDISON, NJ – In an effort to improve the fan experience at The Barclays this year, the tournament, with help from MasterCard, Twitter and #FanPerks, is offering new technologies that reduce transaction times and make the tournament more interactive for fans. Just a few days remain before the top 125 players on the PGA TOUR return to Edison and the Plainfield Country Club for the first FedExCup Playoffs event.

MasterCard will help fans at The Barclays reduce the amount of time they stand in line and increase the amount of time they spend watching the best players in the world with Qkr! and contactless payment acceptance. Qkr! with MasterPass is an app that will allow fans to order and pay for concessions at the event directly from their Android or iOS device. The app features MasterPass, a digital wallet from MasterCard that stores payment information in one convenient and secure place. For the first time at The Barclays, contactless payment acceptance will be available through MasterCard, allowing spectators to use mobile payment platforms like Apple Pay. This, along with Qkr! with MasterPass will decrease concession wait times for all fans.

Also new this year is the Twitter Vending Machine, which will be located in The Barclays shop by the main entrance. The vending machine gives fans the ability to answer questions like "Who is your favorite player in the FedExCup Playoffs?" Fans will answer questions and use two specific hashtags to trigger the machine to vend a prize. These gifts range from small, FedExCup branded premium items, to upgraded tickets, to signed golf memorabilia.

The Barclays will also offer an enhancement called #FANPERKS through the PGA TOUR app. With upgrade packages available for purchase, fans using the iOS app can choose from a variety of behind-the-scenes experiences, limited access and other perks. #FANPERKS is powered by Atlanta-based "Experiences," which also supports NFL, MLB, NBA teams and more in their stadium environments. In addition, for fans who have push notifications, iBeacons and geofencing placed strategically around the course will notify them about these offers when they walk by.

"Fans that come out to Plainfield Country Club for The Barclays will have more opportunities to interact with the tournament than ever before," said Executive Director Peter Mele. "Also, the decreased time spent waiting in lines at concessions will help fans get back out on the course much more quickly."

The Barclays will take place from August 25-30 at Plainfield Country Club, site of the 2011 event won by Dustin Johnson. Daily and practice round ticket offers are available at thebarclaysgolf.com. Fans are reminded that each year, up to three youth 18 and younger are admitted free of charge to The Barclays when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
