SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - JFK Health, in conjunction with the Mayor's Wellness Committee, held its third annual Spring Health Fair on Saturday, May 21st. The South Plainfield PAL building looked more like JFK Medical Center, as residents lined up to participate in the Mayor’s Wellness Spring Health Fair. More than 40 employees from across JFK Health volunteered their Saturday morning to enhance the health of the South Plainfield Community.
On hand were professionals from the JFK Dental Clinic, Maternal and Child Health, JFK Hartwyck at Oak Tree, Cedar Brook and Edison Estates Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers, Whispering Knoll Assisted Living, JFK-Rehabilitation, Radiology, Haven Hospice, JFK Neuroscience Institute Sleep Lab, Case Management, Adult Medical Day Program, JFK Breast Center, JFK EMS and Coordinated Health. Health screenings were provided by the staff of JFK and included blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol checks. “JFK Health’s exceptional staff is committed to providing exceptional care to the South Plainfield community,” said Dawn Giakas, Administrator from JFK Hartwyck.
Jean Withers, Outreach Coordinator for JFK Health, and Dawn Giakas, Administrator at JFK Hartwyck at Oak Tree, partnered to coordinate a broad array of services to be present at the event. The multidisciplinary exhibit is a showcase of the continuum of services that can be found within JFK Health. The various departments and professionals provided health education, literature and giveaways for those in attendance.
The South Plainfield Police Department had free child identification kits, children could also tour an ambulance and the South Plainfield’s Environmental Commission Green Team were on hand. The Mayor’s Wellness Committee is Mayor Anesh, Scott Carey, Debbie Boyle, Dawn Giakas, Alison Gibson, David Jaipersaud, Tree Olano, Gary Prendergast and Joe Scrudato.
