John Louis Rutowski III, 61, beloved father and brother, passed away on Sunday, August 21 at 1:51pm at JFK Medical Center due to medical complications. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.
John was born on February 23, 1955 at 7:26pm at Jersey City Medical Center. He was the second child and first son of John Louis Rutowski, Jr. and Nancy Mae Rutowski.
He grew up in Edison, NJ with his parents and six siblings and was known among his family for his mischievous ways. He graduated from Middlesex County VoTech in New Brunswick in 1973 which gave him the skills necessary to be the successful machinist he was for 30 years. He loved gardening, home improvement, cooking, and caring for children and animals. Among his family he was often referred to as “the Sandman” for his ability to put any restless baby or toddler to sleep.
John is survived by his four children, LCpl. Alyssa Rutowski, South Plainfield NJ, Jillian Rutowski, East Orange NJ, John Louis Rutowski IV, South Plainfield NJ, and Noelle Rutowski, South Plainfield NJ; the mother of his children, Pamela Rutowski, Alpha NJ; and his siblings, Kathleen Rutowski, Warrenton VA, Michael Rutowski and wife Rachel, Castlewood VA, Elizabeth Reilly and husband Robert, Greensboro NC, James Rutowski and wife Christine, Palm Coast FL, and Nancy Rutowski, Piscataway NJ. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He is predeceased by his parents and younger brother Frank Rutowski.
There will be no viewing or burial service, but a memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 25th between 11am-3pm at the Raritan River Boat Club in Edison.
