South Plainfield - Jonnie C. Larkin, 90, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. 

Born in Banks, Alabama, Mr. Larkin settled to South Plainfield in 1963.

Jonnie enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. During his near 22 year career as a chef with the Navy, Mr. Larkin served on several vessels and was also a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

After his honorable retirement from the military, Mr. Larkin worked as a chef at Overlook Hospital in Summit for 20 years. 

His most cherished moments where holidays spent with all of his family members.

Jonnie is predeceased by a son Gregory Larkin and by his brother James.

Surviving are his wife Joyce M. (Clark), his two daughters; Michele Larkin of South Plainfield and Denise Foster of Milltown, his son Edward Larkin and his wife Jean of New Mexico, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are his daughter in-law Janet Larkin of Newton as well as several extended relatives in the Mid-West.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 24, 2013 in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals www.mccriskinfuneralhome.com 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080                                                                                                                    

Entombment will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 7-9pm in the funeral home.
