SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Oktoberfest is in full swing at KC’s Korner Restaurant and Tavern of South Plainfield.
Running through the end of the month, Oktoberfest features traditional German beers and homemade food items. Among the food items being served up at the Oak Tree Road establishment this Oktoberfest include Bavarian pretzel appetizers, brat and kraut sandwiches, and, for the main course, wiener schnitzel, sauerbraten, and pork shank osso bucco.
“Nobody in town does Oktoberfest like we do. We offer traditional German beers and traditional and authentic German foods,” said KC’s Korner owner Walter Kurilew, noting that his parents, prior to immigrating to the United States, owned and run a pub in Germany. “They used to hold Oktoberfest in their house and I have remained committed to carry on that tradition.”
Earlier this year KC’s became the first establishment in the area to offer the New Jersey State Lottery’s new keno-style game Quick Draw. On Saturday, Oct. 28 representatives from the lottery will hold a promotional event from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be giveaways as well as drink specials.
KC’s Korner, said Kurliew, is also ready to welcome patrons on Thanksgiving Eve 2017. “This is our biggest night of the year; the night when everybody comes back to South Plainfield,” he said. “All the families and kids who moved away and come back to South Plainfield to celebrate Thanksgiving meet here the night before. It’s a traditional that been carried on forever here.”
KC’s Korner Restaurant and Tavern, located at 100 Oak Tree Avenue at the corner of Front Street, is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and is also available for private parties. Owned by Kurilew for nearly 35 years, KC’s Korner features a private dining room, outside seating, and lunch and dinner daily specials along with a diverse selection bottle and IPA beers as well as Heineken brewlock on draft.
