SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – This Thursday South Plainfield’s Junior Baseball Club will host it’s first ever Cal Ripken 10U Regional Tournament. South Plainfield’s 10U All-star team punched their ticket to the tournament with their 3-1 victory over North Hunterdon in the New Jersey State Finals. Just as the SPJBC is getting things in order so is KC’s Korner located at 100 Oak Tree Avenue in South Plainfield.
“South Plainfield’s 10 Year-old team has been great,” said KC’s Owner Walter Kurilew. “Just as they prepare to order up some runs against teams from New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania we plan on sprucing up our menu so the Cal Ripken Mid-Atlantic can order some of the best burgers, ribs and seafood around.”
“Walter is bringing out the Cal Ripken sandwich just for the event,” said Denise. “He has had all of us getting ready for the Tournament just like the players. The Cal Ripken sandwich has KC’s house smoked pulled pork and brisket along with bacon, cheddar cheese and coleslaw.”
“Jerry’s ribs on the grill are the best,” said Jack Erhardt. “I see South Plainfield is opening up against Hickory of Maryland. “They need to make time this weekend to try Jerry’s famous Ribs. They are better than Boog Powell’s. Actually I think Boog is all hat, and no cattle.”
“I agree with Jack,” said a man who identified himself as Bob. “It’s a great Disch to order, and if you come on Sunday’s you can wash it down with a $3 domestic draft.”
KC’s plans on having the patio open all weekend. Seafood items such as Tequila Lime Mahi have become instant favorites as well as Jerry’s barbeque on the grill.
“We have a number of items on the menu we smoke right here like chicken, beef brisket and pulled pork,” said Kurilew. “Charlie Hoppe has been cooking up various seafood specials for the event, and has made sure the patio is in tip top shape. If he keeps working like this he may need a cortisone shot like Mantle.”
In addition to its plentiful seafood and barbeque menu, KC’s also has a stacked order of burgers and sandwiches along with a generous kids menu. The kids menu includes, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, cheeseburger sliders, mozzarella sticks, pasta and more.
“It’s fitting that everyone is excited about what KC’s is serving for the Cal Ripken Regionals,” said Ray Rusnak as he sipped one of the new IPA’s on draft. “Charlie and Jerry, never miss a day, they are just like Cal.”
