SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Grand Knight Tom Pollock & Special Citizens Drive Chairmen Joe Scrudato presented checks to 3 Organizations that the Knights of Columbus support each year from there Special Citizens Drive held in April. Directors Ray & Kristin Fantusi from the South Plainfield Keystone Community, President & CEO Shawn McInernery from the Midland School for the Disabled and Director Jamie Jezek from Camp Sun and Fun ARC of Gloucester County. The Special Citizens Organizations talked about their organizations and explained where the donations would benefit their resident's lives.
The South Plainfield Knights of Columbus have supported these organizations for over 30 years. $13,700 was collected from the "Special Citizens Drive" that was held last April. $12,000 was collected during their 4 day canning drive and over $1,700 was donated by local businesses and Knights members for this great cause.
The Knights would like to thank the following businesses for allowing them to collected in front of their stores: Quik Chek, CVS, A&P Supermarket, Super Stop and Shop, Shop Rite, Dunkin Donuts, The Bagel Pantry, Ciccio's Pizza, 7-11, Dave's Stationary, Witty's and Oak Tree Liquors.
As well the following local business have also allowed the Knights to have can's inside their stores all year for customers to make donations - The Corner Deli, B&C Deli, Sherbans Diner & Oak Tree Liquors.
The Knights would like to thank all of the local businesses and the South Plainfield Community for donating towards this great cause.
Father Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society at a time in the United States when Catholic immigrants were being forced to renounce their Faith in order to earn a livelihood for their families. Our mission as Knights of Columbus, is to keep Father McGivney's dream alive, to actively seek out Catholic men and invite them to be a part of our community of Christian family life through participation in our social and fraternal programs of service to our Church, community, and youth.
