SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - This year's annual Labor Day 5K run will mark the 23rd year when the race kicks off September 2 on Lake Street.

The run, which draws about 250 runners, is sponsored by the South Plainfield Alliance for Substance Awareness, The Club at Ricochet, and the South Plainfield Education Foundation.

Last year over 30 walkers also took  part in a 1.5 mile family fitness walk for the first time.  According to Education Foundation President Marge Reedy, she and her group "hope  to increase this number in support of family togetherness and a positive drug-free, fun-filled fitness lifestyle."
